When OCG decided to move into new premises in the ANZ tower, central Auckland, they took the opportunity to change the way the company worked. As a highly successful recruitment company, OCG gave Gaze Commercial a very specific brief. Interview rooms, testing rooms and reception were to form one space and the staff were to work in an open plan layout in an adjacent space. In addition Gaze had to sustain a functional and visual link between the two. Gaze provided that solution by cutting a hole in the floor slab and creating a vertical link in the form of an open plan glass, concrete and steel staircase.

The open plan office on the upper level has only five offices through the centre of the floor plan. All offices and meeting rooms have been brought into the centre of the space, optimising natural light and city views for staff in open plan. The offices themselves have a more open feel due to the large scale sliding glass doors which are closed only when privacy is a necessity. The outcome is an environment which promotes the relationships and communication between all teams and provides visitors with a lasting first impression.
